A tunnel located near the confluence of the canals. There is a plaque with an engraving by Sakuro Tanabe, “Suiri-wo karite jinko-wo tasuku.” The phrase is a quote from the imperial rescript of Emperor Meiji for the Lake Biwa Canal construction, and it means “Use natural water to make it useful for human work.”
