The Third Tunnel (entrance)

A tunnel through which the First Canal flows. The 850-meter tunnel begins in Yamashina and ends in Keage. Found at the entrance is a plaque with engraved writing by Masayoshi Matsukata, “Kau Shoushokuo Miru,” which means, “Once the drizzle ends, the greenery of the pines is revealed even more brilliantly.” It is a quote from a poem written by Liu Chang-qing, a poet of the Tang Dynasty of China.
